Many odours are produced by bacteria as they degrade various organic compounds such as proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. Among the chemicals that cause these bad odours, also known as malodours, are hydrogen sulphide, organic sulphur compounds, and organic acids. Many odour control products seek to mask these malodours, and some try to neutralize them after they are formed. Others use heavy chemicals to kill the bacteria, introducing harmful chemicals into a system that requires bacteria to work. This causes the need for additional chemicals /bacteria at wastewater treatment sites.

Asty Ecology odour control product, ADF, was designed not to mask or neutralize malodours, but to prevent the formation of the compounds which cause bad odours.

ADF works on a competitive principle; to out populate the indigenous bacteria on a ratio of 1,000,000 : 1. The ADF organisms have such a numerical, and competitive, advantage that the natural or indigenous organisms cannot grow enough to produce the chemicals causing the bad odours -the product organisms simply out-compete the indigenous bacteria. In addition, any chemicals they may produce will be degraded by the product organisms. None of the organisms in ADF produce malodour, but all of them digest proteins, carbohydrates and lipids.

Instructions: Place tablet in supplied cloth bag and hang in drain so that the wastewater is in contact with the bag when flowing.
